On 15th January 2010 the Wandsworth YOU team join forces with the Wandsworth Volunteer Centre to take part in a Volunteers Fresher’s fair at Roehampton University. Sergeant Ian Bosher, YOU committee chair said ” Over the last few months committee members representing all of the YOU organisations have worked with a common objective; to increase the number of adult leaders. It was decided at an early stage that this must be achieved before new young people can be recruited into our units. This is challenging issue and one of our options is to take a proactive part in the Fresher’s fair. It is with thanks to Ben Richardson of the volunteer service that the Volunteer Police Cadets and our partners will be able to have a stand at the event. The fair is a second round for the fresher’s who started at the University in October. It is hoped by attending in January those students will have settled into their student lives and for many a new city and home. We hope that this will give us the best opportunity to recruit young, active leaders to support our ultimate aim of increasing the number of young people in the various cadet units”.
