Bromley Launch

Representatives from all the YOU partners in Bromley came together at the Civic Centre to celebrate the local launch, putting on a variety of activities including a climbing wall, bands, vehicle displays and life-saving skills for young people and their families to enjoy.  The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Douglas Auld, and James Cleverly, London Assembly Member for Bexley and Bromley and the Mayor of London’s Ambassador for youth, were both at the launch, which showcased the fantastic work already being done, week in week out, by the youth organisations in Bromley. The event was also aimed at encouraging more adults to give up some of their spare time to volunteer with the various youth groups.

Sergeant Simone Oram, Bromley Police’s Youth Partnership Sergeant, said: “It was fantastic to see all of the uniformed youth organisations together and it makes you realise just how many young people do something constructive with their spare time. Each of the organisations involved offer opportunities for young people in an ever expanding variety of areas such as sport, expeditions, education and friendship and this launch helps to highlight some of the good things that the youth in the borough get up to”.

Councillor Ernest Noad, Portfolio Holder for Children and Young People, said: “This excellent scheme will provide young people across our borough with the opportunity to benefit from and enjoy the wide range of activities on offer from uniformed youth groups today. As a keen Scout for many years, I would like to express my full support of YOU Bromley.”
