Hackney Speaker thanks Borough’s Volunteer Youth Leaders
On 29th October The Speaker of Hackney, Councillor Sharon Patrick in the company of Lieutenant Colonel R E F Morriss TD DL FRSA Representative Deputy Lieutenant for the London Borough of Hackney hosted an evening reception at the Town Hall. She had sought an opportunity to express her thanks to all those who give of their time and energy as leaders of the many uniformed youth organisations in the Borough.
Adult Leaders from six of the ten YOU London (Youth Organisations in Uniform) groups attended the event. The Speaker was warm in her tribute and thanks to the volunteer leaders, and was keen to show this recognition in a public way. Colonel R E F Morriss TD DL echoed his thanks and appreciation.
A reception followed during which The Greater London Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association presented copies of “Stepping Forward” a tribute to the Volunteer Military Reservists and Supporting Auxiliaries of Greater London between 1908 and 2014. A copy of this publication was presented to Her Majesty The Queen at the Royal Hospital Chelsea on Saturday 28 June, following a solemn Drumhead Service to remember those who volunteered to serve in the First World War.
