London’s Lifelines
A new campaign celebrating and showcasing the stories of everyday people in London who give up their time to help others has recently been launched.
London’s Lifelines celebrates London’s volunteers, good neighbours and kind strangers who save and enrich lives in London in countless ways, from delivering essential shopping and medicine and regular volunteering for local causes, to life-saving activities with the emergency services, and everything in between.
YOU London is part of a group of London-based organisations, charities and networks who’ve come together to form the London Volunteering Strategy Group (LVSG). With this campaign, the LVSG wants to:
- Show the scale and scope of volunteering in London
- Shine a light on Londoners everywhere who give their time for others
- Demonstrate how volunteers power London’s vital services and communities
The main feature of the campaign is a new website, https://londonslifelines.org/, containing photos, videos, written testimonies and filmed interviews telling the stories of London’s volunteers.
On 5th December for International Volunteers Day, the LVSG will be launching a campaign video and want as many organisations and people to get involved as possible!
Here’s how to get your volunteers involved:
- Submit a photo, vlog or story via the website. ‘How to’ videos to show people how to create and upload their own content can be found here
- Join the volunteer press team. Individuals can join the team to get media experience for their CV and work with the videographer to design and produce the main film for the campaign. Join here
- Attend a pop up. On 1-4 November, there’ll be pop-up film booths at various locations around London, gathering people’s stories around volunteering.
- Share volunteering stories using the Hashtags #LDNSLifelines and #LondonsLifelines:
