A warm and sunny Guildhall Yard provided a wonderful setting for the annual Lord Mayor’s Cadet Music Competition (this year a Lady Mayor’s Cadet Music Competition).
Cadet bands from London Area Sea Cadets, South East and South West London Army Cadets, St Dunstan’s CCF, Mill Hill and St Benedict’s CCFs and 31 (Tower Hamlets) Squadron RAF Air Cadets performed marching pieces, static pieces and bugle solos in front of a judging panel made up of senior musicians from the three Services.
It takes a lot of guts to play an instrument whilst marching in front of an audience and judging panel. All the bands did really well and were immaculately turned out. Congratulations to the winners of each category:
Best bugler: Drummer Jasmine Morrison, St Dunstan’s CCF
Best Drum Major: CWO Amelia Court, 31 (Tower Hamlets) Squadron, RAF Air Cadets
Best Corps of Drums: A combined entry from Mill Hill & St Benedict’s CCFs
Best overall band: 31 (Tower Hamlets) Squadron, RAF Air Cadets
