Volunteer Police Cadets
For young people aged 13–17
Why should you become a Police Cadet? First and foremost, because it's really good fun! But there are lots of other reasons too – making new friends, learning new skills, becoming a community champion, completing your Duke of Edinburgh's Award and enhancing your CV.
If you're aged 13 to 17 years old and are looking for a fun, challenging and exciting way to gain new skills and help your community, join the Volunteer Police Cadets.
Both the Metropolitan Police Service and City of London Police have Volunteer Police Cadets (VPC). These organisations are open to young people from across London's diverse communities, irrespective of their background or financial circumstances, and including those vulnerable to crime or social exclusion.

Volunteer with the VPC
You do not need to have any Police experience to volunteer with the VPC. Adult volunteers help cadet co-ordinators run the cadet programme in every London borough.
There is a role for everyone, from helping to run the weekly meetings, to administration roles, helping out at policing events alongside the cadets and police officers, or helping to supervise outdoor activities together with qualified colleagues. There may be opportunities to gain qualifications in skills such as outdoor leadership, sports leadership and safeguarding.
The activities we take part in as cadets range from drill to police scenario role plays and, more importantly, helping the community. Over my 2 years as a cadet, the experiences I have had are unforgettable.
